Job description
We are looking for a Product Owner to join the Marketing Transformation & Operations Team within the Customer Brand and Engagement function.
We are on a transformation journey, with an ambition to create and send industry leading Customer Communications that deliver the best experiences, enabling customers to make financial decisions that are right for them. To enable our colleagues to do this in the most effective and efficient way, we leverage market leading technology that provides the backbone to our processes, allowing us to reimagine how we work day to day.
You will be working in our Enablement & Capability Team that sits in Marketing Transformation. Our role is to ensure that our colleagues have the right tools and technologies that enable them to deliver at pace, whilst not compromising on quality and controls, in a financial services environment.
As a Product Owner of our Adobe Workfront and AEM Assets platforms, you will be responsible for driving the product roadmap, delivering platform enhancements that bring value to our colleagues and expanding the use of this capability across the Customer Brand and Engagement function, and wider Communications Community at Nationwide. You will be playing a crucial role embedding the ‘core’ technology that brings our function together and how we set ourselves up to operate more efficiently and scaling our capability. Working closely across the function and with our Chief Operating Office (COO) to achieve our strategic objectives.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Bournemouth or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you'll be doing
As we continue to enhance our tools and processes your role will ensure that our platforms operate as we need them to today, whilst driving the agenda for tomorrow.
- You’ll oversee the operational use of our Adobe Workfront and AEM Assets platforms for onboarded users, ensuring they are performing as expected and delivering value.
- You’ll drive the strategic roadmap for these tools, implementing platform enhancements that enable our colleagues to be effective and efficient.
- You’ll be responsible for cross-function engagement, ensuring priorities are managed and focus is applied on the right development at the right time, in order to drive our strategy and maximise user value.
- You’ll lead the team that supports the users of our platforms, taking business requirements into our delivery teams, delivering platform training and troubleshooting issues.
- You’ll lead the stakeholder engagement across the CBE function and ensure effective ways of working with our technical support teams (internal and external).
- You will also stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in workflow and asset storage technologies to ensure our platform remains cutting edge and competitive.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced Product Owner who has;

- Excellent project management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliverables. Working effectively across a Matrix team/cross function is essential.
- A proactive, collaborative and solution-oriented approach with the ability to support complex change projects and realise opportunities to drive further improvements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative and practical solutions that drive user value.
- Proven experience in owning, prioritising and communicating a product backlog that can transparently show the value it drives for the business
- An ability to build strong relationships with senior management, excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Experience and understanding of Agile change methodologies, preferably demonstrating knowledge of a recognised framework (e.g. SAFe)
- People management experience is desirable, but not essential
- Financial sector experience is desirable, but not essential
Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:
- Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
- Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
- Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
- Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes.
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
