Culture & inclusion
We are committed to inclusion, diversity and equality, and to creating a culture in which everyone can thrive. We want every colleague to know that they are a valued and important member of our community.
As colleagues, we...
Are honest and direct with good intent. We support one another. We value different perspectives. We say things ‘in the room’, so that everyone’s voice is heard.
As teams, we...
Come to work determined to make a difference. We each build our skills, champion our colleagues and stay accountable for our own high performance.
As high performers, we...
Think, live and breathe a customer first mindset. Expecting and challenging ourselves and each other to excel, delivering the end-to-end outcomes that offer more to customers.
As a diverse team of 18,000, we...
Put inclusion at the heart of Nationwide, working to ensure that every colleague feels empowered to bring the best of themselves, and to bring out the best in others, whatever their background, identity, or circumstances.
We create Fairer Futures
Youth homelessness, family poverty, dementia and cancer affect so many people of all ages across the UK. With our charity partners, and our members, we have helped over 65,000 people in our first year already. This year we will help even more.
In 2024, we partnered with Centrepoint, Action for Children, and Dementia UK to help tackle three of the biggest issues we see in society today: youth homelessness, families living in poverty, and the challenges faced by people living with dementia. In 2025, we announced our new partner to Fairer Futures – The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives. Cancer can have a greater impact on those who are most vulnerable. We want to support customers affected by cancer in the best possible way.
We work for the good of society
We want colleagues to actively champion the causes and communities they’re passionate about. To make it easy to make a positive impact, we:
Offer grants of up to £10,000 to fund colleague-nominated charities.
Highlight volunteering and giving opportunities for our permanent and fixed-term contract colleagues via our My Social Impact platform.
Give all colleagues up to 14 hours paid volunteering leave every calendar year (this is offered at a pro rata rate for those in part-time roles).
Ready to make an impact?
We come to work determined to make a difference for our customers and broader society. We feel what customers feel. We say it straight. We push for better. We get it done.
Be rewarded
High performing and purpose-driven people deserve rewarding careers with excellent benefits.
Be your best
At Nationwide, we have high expectations of you and for you. Continue to grow and upskill, with our support every step of the way.
