Job description
Nationwide is a well-established and market leading financial services provider, and the biggest building society in the world. At Nationwide we openly put out 15 million members at the centre of every decision we make as a business. Every role, no matter what it's doing, is member focussed. Our Group Customer & Communications function is expanding, and we are building our in-house econometrics capabilities. We are seeking a talented individual to join our team and deliver econometric insights and recommendations that will optimise the efficiency of Nationwide's marketing plans.
This is an 18-month fixed term contract opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you will be doing
Reporting to the Marketing Effectiveness Manager, Econometrics you will work with an experienced econometrics team to deliver comprehensive econometric modelling projects. You'll gather, process, and explore data using tools such as Excel, R, Python, or other data manipulation and visualisation software. You'll use your skills to analyse data to identify trends, relationships, and valuable insights that can inform econometric modelling efforts.
Additionally, you'll build econometric models that quantify the factors driving key business performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct bespoke analyses to answer specific business questions and requirements as needed.
You'll be responsible for creating compelling presentations that translate econometric modelling insights into clear, actionable business recommendations and present your results and findings to stakeholders and provide support for further bespoke analyses as required.
You'll work closely with colleagues across Group Customer & Communications and other functions to maximise the business value derived from analytics and modelling initiatives.
About you
As a minimum you’ll have:
- Experience working in econometrics, either in an agency or client-side setting
- Proven ability to utilise Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM) techniques to measure and attribute the effects of various marketing activities on key business performance metrics
- Experience in gathering, cleaning and analysing data using tools such are R, Python and/or advanced Excel skills
- Strong numerical skills and meticulous attention to detail, enabling accurate and thorough data handling from input to output throughout all stages of the MMM project lifecycle
- An understanding of media buying and planning processes, and how econometrics can be used to shape media planning strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver information accurately and clearly
- Passion for data-driven decision-making and translating insights into actionable recommendations for marketing strategy
- The ability to present and explain complex analytical information in a straightforward manner to stakeholders without a technical background
- A collaborative mindset to work effectively with media buying, planning, and other cross-functional teams
Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:
- Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
- Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
- Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
- Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
