Nationwide Foundation Communications Manager

The Nationwide Foundation is looking for a knowledgeable and professional individual to provide communications support on a fixed term basis for a period of 12-months.

We are looking for someone who can tell a compelling story of our work and impact across audiences, putting people and why homes matter at the heart.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. The working hours (per week) for this role are 35 however we’re open to considering other working patterns with a minimum of 28 hours. 

At the Nationwide Foundation we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems and there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration in one of our office sites, particularly Swindon and London.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and deliver the Foundations’ communications so that it underpins the Foundation’s external affairs strategy and the overall delivery of the Foundation’s strategic mission and goals 

• Be an integral partner in sector-wide efforts to improve the effectiveness of messaging about the lack of decent and genuinely affordable housing and shift public narratives, including managing strategic communication’s projects as and when they arise.

• Lead on the production of all internal and external communications in, positioning great storytelling at the heart of the Foundation’s communications

• Produce a step change in communications across all channels that increases The Foundation’s profile and compellingly raises awareness of the Foundation’s mission

• Build strong collaborative relationships with key journalists and communication professional across media, relevant publications, and the housing sector more broadly

• Support the Foundation’s funded partners with communications needs 

• Support the team to develop creative, dynamic ways to communicate 

• Lead on the development of the Foundation’s website and social media presence, ensuring it is engaging, coherent and reflects values.

About you

We'd love to hear from you if you have/are:

• Proven experience in the field of strategic communications. 

• Experience of communicating using a wide variety of communications methods including social media. 

• Knowledge and understanding of the charitable sector including working with sensitive issues.

• The ability to be a strategic and creative thinker with a track record of developing ideas from concept to delivery.

• Excellent written and verbal communication with a track record of producing high quality, engaging communications. 

• Self-reliant and resourceful.

• Proficient on multi comms platforms.
