Choose more on a summer internship
Get ready to make an impact from your first day.
As champions of the mutual way, we challenge the financial sector status quo. We don’t see customers as the engine of our profit. We work on behalf of them. Always there when they need us. Supporting them and their lives. Feel that difference throughout your 8-week internship, as you work to help deliver our purpose: Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.
We want every colleague to know they’re a valued and important part of our community, valued for their uniqueness and contribution. We’re creating access to opportunities where we typically see under-representation in banking. Our internship programme aims to address this by supporting talented people who may have seen or experienced barriers to a career in banking.
Applications for our summer internships are now closed.
Build a career, not just a job
You'll gain valuable work experience, new skills and a wide network of colleagues that will open up opportunities. You’ll experience the unique culture of Nationwide, and our determination to make a difference to our customers and broader society.
How you do your job is just as important as what you do. So, we’ll encourage you to embrace our customer first behaviours, using your internship to feel customers feel, say it straight, push for better and get it done. Behaviours that will help you shape your future career in banking.
Be the impact, make the impact
You'll stay accountable for your own high performance and for delivering the end-to-end outcomes that offer more to customers. Creating impact from your very first day.
During your 8 weeks with us, you’ll work on projects and tasks where every action has the customer at its heart. You’ll connect with a network of like-minded colleagues and build essential business skills and experience that will push your performance and set you up for your future career.

FAQs for summer internships
Social mobility is the link between a person’s occupation or income and the occupation or income of their parents. Research shows that someone’s socio-economic background (e.g. where they grew up, social class, the financial resources of their family, the type of school they attended, etc) can affect their career opportunities.
Research shows an under-representation of people from working-class backgrounds in banking. We believe this internship will help contribute to addressing this and give high-performing individuals who may not have considered a career in banking a high-quality experience and open up opportunities.
If you were unsuccessful in your Spring 2025 application, you can apply again in Spring 2026. Use the opportunity to show how you've developed your skills and experience over the last 12 months.
